Women's Week 2002 - Leveling the Playing Field: 30 Years of Title IX
Christine Grant is a crusader for gender equity in intercollegiate athletics and has along association with Title IX. She was the Women's Athletic Director at the University of Iowa for 27 years, a position which she held since the department was established in 1973. She was a founding member of the Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women, serving as President of that association from 1979-82, and was on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Collegiate Women's Athletic Administrators, serving as President of that association from 1987-98 and chairing the Gender Equity Committee. Ann Rhodes was the vice president for University Relations at the University of Iowa from 1991-2000, where she was in charge of the university's athletic programs. She is currently in the Office of the General Counsel, and has adjunct faculty appointments in the College of Law where she teaches the law of intercollegiate athletics. Dianne Bystrom, director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, will moderate.
