Ambassador Charles T. Manatt served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Dominican Republic from 1999 to 2001. He has been long active in the democracy movement, and was Founding Chairman of the National Democratic Institute. He also served as Vice Chairman of the National Endowment for Democracy, Chairman of the International Foundation for Election Systems, and as a board member of the Center for International Private Enterprise and the Center for Democracy. Mr. Manatt received a B.S. from Iowa State in 1958 and a J.D. from the George Washington University School of Law in 1962.
