Sonya Salamon is professor of Community Studies and director of Community and Rural Studies Concentration at the University of Illinois. Her publications include Prairie Patrimony: Family, Farming and Community in the Midwest and the forthcoming Newcomers, Old Towns: Community Change in the Postagrarian Midwest. She received her doctorate from the University of Illinois, her masters in anthropology from University of California at Berkeley, and her B.F.A. in Painting & Design from Carnegie Institute of Technology,
