James Tobin has been affiliated with Yale University since 1950, serving in such capacities as director of Cowles Foundation for Research in Economics, chairman of the department of economics and as Sterling Professor of Economics. Tobin was a member of the Council of Economic Advisers during the Kennedy administration, 1961-62.
