John Gurley is a well known professor of economics at Stanford University, where he received his B.A. and PhD degrees. He is presently teaching undergraduate courses in elementary economics, the Marxian and Radical traditions, the economic development of China, and human biology. His graduate courses include Marxian Economics and a seminar in political economy. Gurley wrote the works Money in a Theory of Finance, Challengers to Capitalism: Marx, Lenin, and Mao, and China's Economy and the Maoist Strategy, in addition to many scholarly articles.
