John A. Mintz, Assistant Director and Legal Counsel of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, received his BA degree from Maryville College in Tennessee. He received a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Chicago Law School. Mintz is a member of the bar in Virginia, in the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court. He began service with the FBI in 1961 and was appointed to his present position in 1974.
