Robert J. Keeshan, better known as "Captain Kangaroo," has devoted his life to producing and performing in children's television programs. In addition to starring in network television's longest-running children's program, Keeshan has testified on Capitol Hill about the effects of media violence on youngsters. He also holds strong views about the importance of society as a whole in the nurturing of children. Keeshan's own contribution, "Captain Kangaroo," won five Emmy awards and three Gabriel awards and an Ohio State award during its 29-year existence.
