Rae Blumberg has concerned herself with factors affecting the status of women in modernizing nations. Currently an assistant professor in the department of rural sociology at the University of Wisconsin, she is finishing her dissertation at Northwestern University on how Venezuelan development under multinational oil corporations has affected the positions of women.
