Lewis Nkosi was exiled from South Africa, where he was a journalist after being awarded a Nieman Fellowship to Harvard. He has taught literature at the University of Zambia, university of California (Irvine) and the University of Warsaw. he was literary editor of The New African magazine and editor of S. African Information Bulletin. He has written many articles, plays and stories including the novel Mating Birds and now teaches at the University of Wyoming.
