Marvalee Wake is Professor Emerita in the Department of Integrative Biology at the University of California, Berkeley. Her current research emphasizes morphology, development, and reproductive biology in vertebrates with the goal of understanding evolutionary patterns and processes. Marvalee has published extensively. She has also served as the president of the numerous professional societies and was a member of the Smithsonian Institution Science Commission. Other accolades include election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, a fellowship in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, as well as membership in the California Academy of Sciences.
