VEISHEA Opening Ceremony

Simon Estes, the world-renowned opera singer, has sung for 6 Presidents of the United States as well as Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the late Nelson Mandela, former President of South Africa. He is also committed to philanthropic work, including his own foundation that is partnering with the United Nations Foundation to raise funds to help eliminate malaria in Africa. He teaches music at Iowa State and is the 2014 VEISHEA Parade Grand Marshal. A reception with refreshments will precede his talk in the Sun Room, 4-5 pm. Student Organization Awards, including Adviser of the Year and Student Leader of the Year, will be presented.
