Mary Swander, a graduate of the Iowa Writers Workshop, has been with the Iowa State University Department of English since 1986. Her most recent memoir, The Desert Pilgrim: En Route to Mysticism and Miracles (2003) was a Barnes and Noble "Discover Great New Writers" selection.
