Sandra L. Hanson is a professor of sociology at Catholic University whose work has focused on gender, race and ethnicity in the sciences. She is the author of two books on the subject, Swimming Against the Tide: African American Girls in Science Education and Lost Talent: Women in the Sciences. Hanson received a Fulbright award for teaching and research on gender in Eastern Europe at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow Poland. Her second Fulbright award was for teaching and research on gender and science in an international context at the Global and European Studies Institute, Leipzig University. Sigma Xi Lecture Series
