Charles Tilly is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and History and director of the Center for Studies on Social change at the New School for Social Research. His books include: From Mobilization to Revolution, The Rebellious Century, and The Formation of National States in Western Europe. He served as a director of the center for Research on Conflict Revolution and the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan.
