Daniel Quinn is the author of Ishmael, the 1991 winner of the Turner Tomorrow Fellowship which was established to encourage authors to seek "creative and positive solutions to global problems." Prior to Ishmael, Quinn had a thirty-three year career as a writer, editor, and publisher. His other books include Providence: The Story of a Fifty-Year Vision Quest,A Newcomer's Guide to the Afterlife (with Tom Whalen), and The Story of B.
