Margaret Catley-Carlson, 2006 Norman Borlaug Lecturer, is Chair of the Global Water Partnership, a network that links thousands of water management professionals around the world. She is also Chair of the Water Policy Advisory Committee of Suez Lyonnaise and the Center for Agriculture and Bioscience International. Her 35-year career in economic development has included terms as President of the Canadian International Development Agency, Deputy Director of UNICEF, and Chair of the Geneva-based Water Supply Sanitation Collaborative Council. She is the former President of the Population Council, a nonprofit, nongovernmental research organization established in 1952. Prior to joining the Council, she was Deputy Minister of Health and Welfare Canada, President of the Canadian International Development Agency, and Deputy Executive Director (Operations) of UNICEF.
