Anita Perez Ferguson was the first Hispanic woman in California to run for the US House of Representatives and is currently director of education and training for the Democratic National Committee and vice president of the national Women's Political Caucus. She was associate professor in Chicano Studies at California State University, Northridge, and chair of the Ethnic Advisory council to the California Superintendent of Education.
