He has appeared on Nightline and The Phil Donahue Show and his books include Political Ecology and The Fate of the Forest: Developers, Destroyers and Defenders of the Amazon. Raised in Ireland and educated at Oxford, his father was the distinguished radical journalist Claud Cockburn.
