Jessica Stern is a U.S. expert on terrorism and author of TERROR IN THE NAME OF GOD: Why Religious Militants Kill, named one of the Notable Books of 2003 by the New York Times. She served as Superterrorism Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and was the director for Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the National Security Council. She is also the author of The Ultimate Terrorists and of numerous articles on terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. She is currently a lecturer at Harvard University. She received a bachelor's degree from Barnard College in chemistry, a master's of science degree from MIT, and a doctorate in public policy from Harvard. This is part of a series on "Israel's Quest for Peace; Past, Present and Future," planned by the Ames Coalition for Peace. Steffen Schmidt, professor of Political Science at ISU, will moderate.
