Andrei Markovits is the Karl W. Deutsch Collegiate Professor of Comparative Politics and German Studies at the University of Michigan. A specialist on the politics of Western and Central Europe -- Germany and Austria in particular -- Markovits has published a dozen books and edited volumes; well over 100 scholarly articles; 50 review essays; and many articles and interviews in the American and European press. His books include: German Politics and Society; From Bundesrepublik to Deutschland: German Politics after Reunification; The German Predicament: Memory and Power in the New Europe; The German Left: Red, Green and Beyond; and The Politics of Scandal: Power and Process in Liberal Democracies.
