How Our Bodies Fight Infection: The Basics of Molecular Immunology

Amy Andreotti is a professor in the Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology at Iowa State. Her research is in molecular immunology, specifically how the principles of physics can be used to understand the three-dimensional shapes of those molecules that control our immune response. Her team is looking at how these molecules change in the context of diseases such as autoimmune disorders or viral infections with the hope of improving their treatment. Andreotti earned a PhD in chemistry at Princeton University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard University. College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean's Lecture Series.
