Robert Ellis Smith, publisher of the Privacy Journal, has been called "the Paul revere of the Information Society" by Bill Moyers and The New Yorker. Smith, author of Privacy: How to Protect What's Left of It, has testified before Congressional committees on the perils of increased reliance on computerized information and giant data banks. He served as assistant director of the Civil Rights Office of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare and was director of the American Civil Liberties Union's Privacy Project. He is a Harvard graduate and received a law degree from Georgetown University.
