She is a University of Northeern Iowa biology professor who teaches courses in applied ecology, conservation biology, general biology labs and environmental studies; with forays into advanced ecology and the ecology of agricultural systems. She has a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from Cornell University. This is the Shivvers Memorial Lecture.
