James Hal Cone, Charles A. Briggs Distinguished Professor of Systematic Theology at Union Theological Seminary, is the author of Martin & Malcolm & America: A Dream or a Nightmare; Risks of Faith: The Emergence of a Black Theology of Liberation 1968-1998; Black Theology and Black Power;A Black Theology of Liberation; The Spirituals and the Blues: An Interpretation God of the Oppressed; Speaking the Truth: Ecumenism, Liberation, and Black Theology. He received his B.D. from Garrett Theological Seminary and his masters and doctorate from Northwestern University.
