Personalized medicine may be the key to curing cancer, and Iowa State Assistant Professor of Chemistry Robbyn Anand is helping pave the way. Advanced technologies can now discriminate minute differences between cancer cells in a patient, allowing physicians to determine the best therapy or combined therapies to eradicate all the various types of cancer cells present. Unfortunately, the high cost of the required instrumentation remains a barrier to this personalized treatment. Robbyn Anand will share the story of how her lab is making single-cell analysis more broadly accessible and changing our understanding of cancer evolution and relapse.
