Disability Awareness Summit Keynote Address

Dear Colleague: I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the upcoming Iowa Regent Institutions ‘Disability Awareness Summit’ taking place in Ames at the Scheman Building-Iowa State Center on the campus of Iowa State University on Friday October 14th, 2011. This event is intended to raise awareness, to stimulate discussion and collaboration, and to promote motivation for positive change as it relates to the inclusion of all people at our places of work and study. The event “kicks-off” at 9AM with introductions and keynote speech entitled “Postsecondary Students with Disabilities in STEM: Engagement, Persistence and Graduation” presented by Dr. Mark Leddy, Program Director, Research in Disabilities, The National Science Foundation. Additional topics of discussion throughout the day include universal design (structural and instructional), emerging technologies, services for deaf/hard of hearing, and much more.
