Cheryl Palm is Visiting Scholar in the Department of Environmental Science, Policy and Management at the University of California, Berkeley , where she teaches a course in conservation and sustainable development in tropical Resources. She is co-writing the second edition of "Properties and Management of Soils in the Tropics,"and was senior scientific officer in the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility Program in Nairobi, Kenya, before joining the faculty at Berkeley. She has a doctorate in soil science from North Carolina State and a masters in zoology from the University of California, Davis.
