Kwame Ture was born Stokely Carmichael and became chairman of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) after graduating from Howard University. He served as prime minister of the Black Panther Party before returning to Guinea to study and organize the All-African People's Revolutionary Party and the African United Front.
