Floretta McKenzie is the Superintendent of the District of Columbia's Public School System which has 180 schools and 5,600 teachers. She was the first woman to hold the post of Deputy Commissioner of Education and was one of the primary architects of the Department of Education. Mrs. McKenzie has experience as a teacher, administrator, counselor, curriculum specialist, and national advocate for public education.
