Robert Theobald is a futurist who sees widespread dissatisfaction with the direction of fundamental changes now affecting society. He coordinates the work of Action Linkage, a network which focuses debate on controversial issues in order to find creative alternatives. Theobald has written Avoiding 1984, a guidebook for the person who wants to recognize patterns of change and do something about them. His other writings include Beyond Despair, Futures Conditional, and numerous newspaper and magazine articles. he received an MA in Economics from Cambridge and is at present the president of Participation Publishers, dividing his time between Arizona and the United Kingdom.
