Barbara Hansen Lecture in Early Childhood Development

Challenging behavior is often one of the biggest barriers to successful interactions with young children. Drawing on neuroscience, this lecture will: (1) reframe challenging behavior as dysregulation, (2) highlight the limits of using reinforcers and consequences to manage behavior, and (3) emphasize the power of the 4 Cs—curiosity, compassion, connection, and co-regulation—to support children in distress.

Cari Ebert, MS, CCC-SLP, is a pediatric speech-language pathologist, consultant, author, and internationally recognized speaker. Known for her animated personality and high-energy speaking style, Cari engages audiences with both her professional expertise and her personal journey as the parent of an autistic son.

This lecture recording can be found on the Available Recordings page approximately two business days after the event and will remain accessible for three weeks.
