Marie Wilson was a Des Moines city council member and director of Human Resources at Iowa Bankers Association before she was named executive director of the Ms. Foundation. This foundation includes the Free-To-Be-You-And-Me Foundation which funds projects for children and families. Martha Willits is the first woman elected to the Polk County Board of Supervisors where she must make decisions concerning social services funding. Laurissa Sellers was the director of the Young Women's Resource Center and sit on the Child Abuse and Neglect council of Greater Des Moines.
