John Esposito is director of the Center for Muslim-Christian Underastanding and professor of religion and international affairs at Georgetown University. his books include Islamic Threat: Myth or Reality?, Islam and Politics, Islam in Asia: Religion, Politics and Society, and Voices of Resurgent Islam. He is editor-in-chief of The Oxford Encyclopedia of the Modern Islamic World.
