Madeleine Kunin is a former three-term governor of Vermont and Ambassador to Switzerland. She also served as U.S. deputy secretary of education. Kunin is currently the Marsh Scholar Professor-at-Large at the University of Vermont, where she lectures on history and women's studies. She is the author of Living a Political Life, The Big Green Book, and, most recently, Pearls, Politics and Power, an insider's view of the role of women in politics. She holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts and master's degrees in journalism from Columbia University and English literature from the University of Vermont.
