John Pesek Colloquium on Sustainable Agriculture

Many processes in crop systems are affected by the weather, such as when flowers bloom and when pests are active. The first online platform to link weather data with agricultural forecasts was created in 1975, and over the past 50 years, the field of ‘digital agriculture’ has expanded exponentially. Crowder will talk about how this field has evolved and created impact over the past 50 years. He will also discuss his research in the western United States that links scientists with farmers, extension agents, and agricultural industries in promoting more sustainable pest management practices at large scales.
