Sustainable Economics, Systems Change, and Collapse Resilience

Gaya Herrington is an internationally known sustainability researcher, wellbeing economist, and bioregionalism advocate who works to transform the economy away from perpetual growth toward one centered on human and ecological wellbeing. Born in the Netherlands, where she led public efforts to criminalize street harassment, she holds master's degrees in Econometrics from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and in Sustainability from Harvard University, and previously worked as an Economic Policy Advisor at the Dutch Central Bank before emigrating to the U.S. in 2014. She has held roles spanning the corporate, government, and nonprofit sectors, currently serving as Bioregional Finance co-Director of Cascadia and Adjunct Professor at Harvard, and is a TED speaker and global adviser on building resilient, wellbeing-focused economies.
