The Iowa State Student Government Health and Wellness Committee presents this evening dedicated to increasing mental health awareness and connecting students with campus and community resources. The event will feature a keynote presentation by mental health advocate Foster Huggins, who will speak about losing someone to suicide, the power of acceptance, and finding purpose through grief. Students can explore resource tables hosted by Student Counseling Services and ISU Police, meet the therapy dogs, and participate in a closing activity creating “Your Life Is Worth Living” yard signs to display throughout the community.
Foster Huggins is a mental health speaker and the creator of Underwater FlyZone, a podcast and clothing brand he founded after losing his best friend to suicide in 2017. Motivated by that loss, he has dedicated himself to breaking the silence around suicide and inspiring others to seek connection, purpose, and support. A graduate of Northwest Missouri State University with a degree in Physical Education, Huggins taught elementary PE before transitioning full‑time into public speaking. He now leads mental health programs for schools, universities, businesses, and community organizations across the country, sharing a message rooted in honesty, resilience, and hope.
