FOCUS

FOCUS

FOCUS Defined

FOCUS is an annual celebration of the arts in which the Lectures program and Student Union Board (SUB) fund special, creative projects in visual and performing arts proposed by Iowa State students. Non-funded visual arts projects can also submitted to be considered for a juried exhibiton. Categories encompass a variety of media including painting, drawing, fibers, metals, clay, woodworking, calligraphy, photography, mixed media, dance, drama, music performance, chap books and poetry readings.

During the month of April, the FOCUS Grant Exhibit is on display in the Pioneer Room, and the FOCUS Juried Exhibit is on display in the Gallery at the Memorial Union. A public reception and awards program is held during the exhibit to formally recognize the creative efforts of the Iowa State students who have participated in the FOCUS programs.

Many students have majors outside of the arts and are an important part of the efforts of FOCUS to promote and support the artistic side of this highly technical institution. For more information about how to get involved with FOCUS, contact Letitia Kenemer at 294.0971 or Pat Miller at 294.9935.
