Post-Award Information and Requirements

FOCUS grant recipients will receive an award letter and contract in the mail. The contract must be signed and returned to the Lectures Program Office, 2586 Memorial Union.

The Lectures Program staff will assist grant recipients with the purchase of materials for their projects. Supplies may be purchased through the University Book Store, or students can be reimbursed for purchases made elsewhere. Always keep your receipts.

Grant recipients must submit a fifty-word description of their project for the FOCUS brochure by February 1. E-mail this text to Letitia Kenemer

Grant recipients must provide the committee with written progress reports. Spring award recipients and their advisors will file brief reports in October and January; fall award recipients and advisors will file brief reports in January. Written progress report forms are available below and should be submitted electronically to Joyce Knutson (

In addition, grant recipients must present a brief visual progress report to the FOCUS Committee in February. Someone from the Lectures Program Office or FOCUS Committee will contact you to schedule a time for this presentation. Be prepared to bring materials to show the committee how far you are in the completion of your project. If reports are not filed or if the committee feels that the grant recipient is not making adequate progress toward completing the project, the project and further funding of it may be terminated.

Projects are to be exhibited in the Memorial Union Gallery during the April Focus Exhibit unless viewing space is a special consideration. All plans for displaying artwork must be approved by the Memorial Union Fine Arts Coordinator by the end of February. E-mail

for approval. If exhibition in the Memorial Union isn"t possible, the proposal must describe a means of display and space arrangements must be cleared, in writing, with the responsible campus authorities.

Projects must be delivered to the Memorial Union in ready-to-install condition during the designated drop off time, which will be announced at the visual progress meeting. The Memorial Union reserves the right to refuse to display objects that are improperly prepared for display.

A reception will be held for FOCUS Grant Exhibit in April. Students with performing and literary arts projects are expected to do a four to five minute presentation of their project at the reception.

Objects loaned to the Memorial Union will remain in its possession for the entirety of the exhibit dates. Artwork must be picked up during the designated times following the close of the loan period. Unclaimed artwork will become property of the Memorial Union.
