About Lectures
The ISU Lectures Program is a collaborative effort between the Government of the Student Body and the Office of the Provost. The program works to bring to campus a broad spectrum of stimulating lectures, political debates, and academic forums; cultural events, including musical performances and art and dance programs; and entertainment, such as film and comedy. All lectures are free and open to the public.
The Lectures Program staff oversee and manage the Committee on Lectures as well as committees for the World Affairs series, National Affairs series, and FOCUS. In addition, the staff supports other university offices and organizations planning public events. The director of the Lectures Program consults with students, faculty, and administrative offices on potential speakers and advises them on arrangements for lectures, forums, and cultural events. The staff assists with researching speakers and topics, scheduling and room reservations, negotiating fees, and other details of speaker appearances on campus. The Lectures Program also oversees the financial, promotional, and technical arrangements for the events it sponsors.
